Landlord doesnt know how to program the outside keypad because last renter didn't give her the code. Keypad says learn button should be present on motor unit but not found. Opened light area and only found yellow button accompany by up and down arrows. Landlord seems */# 8888 should do something but keypad has no window and unit lights dont blink. How can i program my new code?

I press and hold the adjustment button until it flashes or beeps. Then press the up or down button and nothing happens.The minor never spins to get the chain moving. Tried it without the chain attached. Same response. Is the opener bad?
